Amniocentesis
You may experience mild abdominal cramping over a couple of days following amniocentesis. This is normal and you make take Tylenol (2 tablets @ 500 mgs. ea) every 6-8 hours for pain/cramping. You may resume normal activity immediately following this procedure and please call us if you should experience fever, severe cramping, fluid or blood in the vagina or unusual pain.
Breast Cyst Aspiration
You may experience some mild soreness at the aspiration site. This is normal and should go away in a couple of days. Call our office if you experience fever, unusual pain, bleeding or redness at the site. The sample will be sent to pathology for evaluation. Results from this test should be available in 1-2 weeks.
Colposcopy, Colposcopy and Biopsy and Endometrial Biopsy
There may be some bleeding that can last for up to two days, and you may experience heavy bleeding 5 to 10 days after the procedure. Do not use tampons, have sexual intercourse, or put anything into the vaginal area for at least one week following the procedure unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Call our office if you experience fever, unusual pain, discharge, bad odor, severe cramping, fainting or dizziness. You may take Ibuprofen (3 or 4 tablets @ 200 mgs. ea) every 6-8 hours for pain/cramping. These results will be available in 1-2 weeks.
Cryosurgery
There may be some bleeding that can last for up to two days, and you may experience heavy bleeding 5 to 10 days after the procedure. You may expect a profuse watery discharge for 2-4 weeks following this procedure. Call our office if you experience fever, unusual pain, severe cramping, fainting or dizziness. You may take Ibuprofen (3 or 4 tablets @ 200 mgs. ea) every 6-8 hours for pain/cramping. Do not use tampons, have sexual intercourse, or put anything into the vaginal area for at least two weeks following the procedure unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.
IUD insertion
Call our office if you experience fever, severe cramping, bad odor, fainting or dizziness. You may take Ibuprofen (3 or 4 tablets @ 200 mgs. ea) every 6-8 hours for pain/cramping. You may resume normal activity including using tampons and having sexual intercourse following this procedure.
Lesion removal
Please keep the lesion removal area dry and covered for 12-24 hours and call our office if you experience fever or redness at the lesion removal site. The lesion will be sent to pathology for evaluation. Results from this test should be available in 1-2 weeks.
